The All Electric Lawn

Hi, my name is Kyle, and I just recently went to all electric outdoor power tools.  You might be asking, why would I go and do a thing like that? The simple answer is I got tired of messing with small engines.

I have been a homeowner for quite a while, and before that, my dad had me out on the lawn cutting grass and trimming the hedges. I am also the author of  a book about essential lawn tools  “The Top 10 Tools for Lawn Care: The 10 Essential Tools to Grow and Maintain a Beautiful Lawn

I have owned all types of gas-powered lawn equipment 2 cycle, 4 cycle, and 20+ hp lawn tractors.  Don’t get me wrong gas-powered lawn equipment gets the job done, and the engines are powerful, but they can be a pain in the rear.  If you have ever tried to start a 2 cycle weed eater or blower after it has set a while, then you know exactly what I mean if you can even get it to start.

So you might ask, why go electric?  I was sitting around looking for a replacement for my aging lawn tractor when I saw an amazing thing.  An electric battery powered zero turn lawn mower.  Finally, there was an electric alternative to my gas powered lawn tractor.  I jumped on the chance to get one, and haven’t looked back since.

How did you make the switch to electric lawn equipment?

I went cold turkey with gas powered equipment.  The lawn tractor was replaced with the battery powered zero turn.  I also got rid of my 4 cycle gas powered weed eater, replaced it with a 40v battery powered multi attachment powerhead, which also let me get rid of my leaf blower at the same time.  I even picked up a small 40v push mower to cut the grass around my pool area.  The same battery pack powers it as my weedeater/blower so I didn’t need another battery charger.

Do you miss gas powered equipment?

I don’t miss much about gas powered lawn equipment.  Do I miss going to the gas station and filling up my gas tanks?  No, I do not.   I don’t miss mixing gas/oil for my 2 cycle engines, and I don’t miss changing spark plugs, drive belts, air filters, or changing the oil.  I don’t miss any of it.

Why a blog for electric lawn care equipment?

So this led me to the creation of this blog, and my spreading of the all electric powered lawn equipment gospel.  I have spent quite a while exploring and researching battery and electric powered lawn equipment.

I want others to be as happy as I am each time I go to cut the grass, blow leaves, or doing some trimming.  This blog will be posting info on electric and battery powered lawn equipment.  I will include reviews of lawn mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, leaf vacs, hedge trimmers, pressure washers, and everything in between.  We will also include any new and exciting news about electric outdoor power equipment and where the future lawn care is heading.

What are you waiting for….let’s go cut the grass.
