How good is an electric leaf vacuum mulcher on wet leaves?

Well if you are looking at the performance between wet leaves and dry leaves then, an electric leaf vacuum does not work as well with wet leaves.

Wet leaves or damp leaves are heavier and hard to suck up into the vacuum.  The wet leaves will also be more difficult to mulch. Mulching wet leaves will be difficult for any of the leaf vacuum mulchers excluding commercial gas leaf vacuum mulchers.

From personal experience, I will say that wet leaves will more than likely cause a clog or jam in the suction tube and impeller, that you will have to dig out.

You will get decent, but a not good performance from any electric or battery powered leaf vacuum when vacuuming wet leaves.

Does a corded electric leaf vacuum need a special extension cord?

There are no special extension cord requirements for using an electric leaf vacuum.  You will want to use a standard outdoor rated, grounded extension cord, that is no greater than 100 feet.

However, you should consult your particular electric leaf vacuum’s instruction manual for suggesting gauge and length requirements.

How do I switch the blower to a vacuum?

Each electric leaf blower vacuum is different, but for the most part, each model has a similar part that needs to be switched to move between vacuum and blower functionality.

The blower vacuum should have come with at least two nozzles.  One for blowing leaves that are smaller in diameter, and a larger diameter leaf vacuum nozzle.

You will need to remove the blower nozzle if is attached and attach the leaf vacuum nozzle to the blower body where the impeller is.  Then you will attach the vacuum bag to the end where the blower nozzle was attached.

To reattach the blower nozzle you will reverse the process. Then you will be back in blower mode.
